The Air Jordan 1 Mid 'Banned' features a recognizable color scheme reminiscent of the iconic Black/Red AJ1 from 1985. This shoe is often erroneously credited as the reason for Michael Jordan's $5,000 fines for wearing a two-tone colorway during NBA games as a rookie (the real culprit was the Nike Air Ship). Like its predecessor, this version has a leather upper with contrasting black and red colors. The color blocking is almost identical to the original, with the exception of an additional red accent on the shorter eyestay. The woven tongue tag features a red Jumpman logo in place of the Nike Air branding.
